The African Elephant is also Known as the bush elephant. It is the largest terrestrial living animal. They have thick bodies with stocky legs and a curved back. They have the large ears which help enable heat loss. One fun fact is elephants have 4 molars, each one weighing about 11 pounds. The African Elephants can live up to 70 years old. Usually the males will leave the herd once they reach the ages of 12 to 15. The tusks are made of ivory and are enlarged incisors. Elephants have a hard time with seeing but they also have the largest brains in the animal kingdom.
