The Sea Turtle is one of the most ancient creatures on earth. These ocean lovers have been around for 110 million years. This is around the age of dinosaurs. There are seven species found today. Their shell, also known as carapace, is great for aerodynamics through the water so they can swim with ease. Sea Turtles diet revolves around jellyfish, seaweed, crabs, shrimp, sponges, snails, algae, and mollusks. The diet depends on the subspecies. Sea Turtles can live to around 80 years of age and can weight anywhere from 80 to 2000 pounds. An interesting fact; the sand where the turtles nest determines the sex of the turtle. Below 85 degrees Fahrenheit is predominantly male and above 85 degrees Fahrenheit is female. Depending on the species, sea turtles can lay 70-190 eggs.
