The meaning of the Invasion star dates back to World War Two. Towards the end of 1943 the star with a circle or a broken circle was carried out through the remainder of the war. It was designed as an aerial recognition symbol, but was painted indiscriminately on most parts of the vehicles. There has been a lot of speculation throughout the years as to why there were different variations on the marking.
